Classes are available both privately and in small groups of up to three people. They are hosted at my apartment studio in the Elmwood Village and are currently $10.00 per student, per hour. Schedule coordination is handled on a case by case basis. The best way to figure all this out is by contacting me through the class registration form. The techniques available include but are not limited to the selections listed on that page. If there's something you're looking for that's not listed, or of you have any other questions, feel free to ask in the comment section.
About my classes:
My movement background and life-long multi-disciplinary training is reflected in the class structure. My classes are cross-disciplinary; and never incorporate just one particular style of movement. Because everyones way of learning is different, I like to draw examples from a variety of dance styles to open up our ability to identify with new movement languages. My approach to learning and teaching is by mixing, matching and finding what works best for the individual. Experiencing various movement styles allows my students identify for themselves what kind of mover they are, where they excel and where they could take their bodies through dance based exercise.
For example, my belly dance class begins with a floor based warm-up that is influenced by yoga, pilates, modern dance and other stretching and strengthening techniques. As we move to standing and center floor exercises we focus on drawing parallels between everyday movement, exercise, social dance, and dance performance. Even though the focus of the class may be belly dance, my students learn how dance in all forms is composed of the same fundamental rules.
